What city roofs are made of
- South City and Tower Grove: brick bungalows and two-family flats, usually a pitched shingle front with a flat or low-slope roof behind the parapet.
- Soulard: 19th-century brick rowhouses, many with mansard fronts and membrane-covered flat sections where parapet flashing is the weak point.
- The Hill: compact brick homes on narrow lots, where a replacement has to be staged from the street and the neighbours' side yards.
- Across the city, internal box gutters and parapet walls carry water that a suburban roof would shed over the eave, so we inspect both.

City of St. Louis questions
- Do contractors need a city license?
- Yes. The City of St. Louis requires contractors working in the city to hold a Construction Industry Contractor Graduated Business License.
- Can you replace a flat roof and a shingle roof on the same house?
- Yes. Many city flats have both, and we write them as separate line items in one estimate so you can see what each part costs.
- Do you pull the permits?
- Yes. We pull the permit on every job that requires one. Which office issues it depends on the city or county, and the service-area pages show it wherever we have the official answer.
