THE ROOFERS WHO CALL YOU BACK
Hail and storm damage roof repair in St. Louis
Hail and wind leave marks that a ceiling does not always show the next day. You get photos of what we found, and a written scope for the repair or the replacement the roof actually needs.

Signs of hail and wind damage
Hail hits the parts of a roof that face the sky and the parts that are already brittle. On asphalt shingles the hits bruise the mat, knock granules off in circles, and crease the tabs. Along a ridge the bruises line up. Soft metal tells the same storm more clearly: dents in box vents, flue caps and air-conditioner fins show the storm, and dents in roof metal, edge metal and exposed fasteners are what we inspect on the roof. A bruise in a membrane is easier to miss. It can be a soft spot in TPO or a fractured surface on aged EPDM, with no hole the day of the storm.
Wind is a different pattern. Shingles lift at the nails and crease, or leave the roof and pile in the yard. Flashing bends up at a wall. A membrane billows where the fasteners missed the deck. A branch opens a hole. Those are not hail, and they are not repaired the same way. The inspection separates them so the scope does not call everything storm damage.
A dry ceiling is not an inspection. Water from a bruised shingle can take the next rain to show up inside. The inspection looks at the roof, not only at the stain.
- Granule loss, bruises and creased shingles, especially at ridges and hips
- Dents in roof metal, edge metal and exposed fasteners
- Lifted shingles, opened flashings and a membrane that has billowed
- A hole from wind-blown debris
An inspection and a photo report
Someone walks the roof where it can be walked safely, uses a drone where it cannot, and photographs the hits, the lifted shingles and the flashings. You go through those photos with us. The same visit can include infrared when a leak has already wet the insulation and the eye cannot see the extent.
The photo report is the record. It is not a bid dressed up as a finding. If the roof is bruised and still sound, we say that. If it needs repair, the repair is itemized. If the hits are widespread enough that a repair will not hold, the replacement is a separate scope. The inspection methods themselves, drone, infrared, satellite measurement and a person on the roof, are on the inspection page.

Working with an insurance claim
The inspection produces photos and a written roofing estimate you can give your insurer. That is the whole of what we do with a claim. We are roofers, not adjusters. We do not decide whether a claim is paid, we do not promise that it will be paid, and we do not tell you to file. If you have filed, or you are about to, the photos and the estimate are what you can hand the person who does decide.
The process on our side is short. We inspect, we photograph, we write the scope the roof needs, and we give it to you. We document what we find. You can share that with your adjuster. We do not decide the claim.
- We document storm damage and write a roofing estimate you can give your insurer.
Repair or full replacement
Hail repair replaces the damaged shingles, the damaged flashings and the bruised accessories, and it leaves the rest of a sound roof. It is the right scope when the hits are scattered and the surrounding shingles still have their granules and their seal. It is the wrong scope when the bruises cover the slopes, the shingles are already brittle, or a repair would leave a patchwork that fails at the next wind.
Replacement is a tear-off of the damaged roof, with the deck checked while it is open. Storm damage does not skip the deck. A membrane roof follows the same split: a welded or taped repair where the sheet is sound, and a replacement where the bruises or the opened seams are the roof. Commercial buildings are below. We do not use the storm as a reason to replace a roof the inspection says can be repaired.
Commercial storm damage
Hail and wind on a commercial roof show up as bruised membrane, dented edge metal, opened seams and, on a metal building, dented panels and loose fasteners. A commercial building that is still operating needs the same photo record an owner can give an insurer, and a scope that says repair or replacement in lines a property manager can read. The commercial pages cover the systems and the replacement.
Emergency tarping
An open roof, water coming in now, or a storm that has torn the membrane back is an emergency repair, not an inspection scheduled for a convenient day. Repair It offers emergency roof repair, including tarping, for that situation. The emergency page says what to do right now, and what a tarp is for. It is a temporary cover, not a finished roof.
This page is the inspection, the documentation and the permanent repair or replacement.
Questions after a storm
- Is the roof inspection free?
- Yes. The roof inspection is free.
- The ceiling is dry. Should the roof still be looked at?
- After hail, yes. Bruises and lifted shingles often leak on a later rain. A dry ceiling the morning after the storm is not a clean bill of health.
- Will you tell me if the roof does not need to be replaced?
- Yes. Scattered hits on a sound roof are a repair, or sometimes no repair at all. We do not write a replacement because a storm came through.
- Can you get my insurance claim paid?
- No. We document the damage and write an estimate you can give your insurer. We do not decide the claim and we do not promise an outcome.
- What if the adjuster missed something?
- We document what we find. You can share that with your adjuster. We do not decide the claim.
- Water is coming in right now. Is that this page?
- That is emergency repair, including tarping. The link on this page goes to that service.
- Do you look at commercial roofs after hail?
- Yes. Membrane, edge metal and metal panels, with the same inspection and the same rule: we document, and we do not decide the claim.
- Can you help with my insurance claim?
- We document storm damage and write a roofing estimate you can give your insurer. We are roofers, not insurance adjusters: we do not decide your claim or speak for your insurer.
- Do I get photos from the inspection?
- Yes. We photograph what we find and go through it with you, so you see what we saw.
